Topic: 5.0 Acceleration Problem??

i have a 1989 5.0 5 speed and when i'm in any gear and press the gas the rpms rev up and the car hardly accelerates. but when i press the gas normal it runs fine. it only does it when i try and punch it.what could it be, any help is greatly appreciated.

clutch is slipping, either the cable is adjusted improperly or the clutch disk needs replacing

Put the car into like 4th gear at like 25-30 mph. Get on it hard. If the tach just climbs and you dont go anywhere your clutch is shot.
