Topic: Running Hot.....heater core, water pump, or...

After starting my car when it's cold the Temp Gage go's between Cold and Hot right a way. It never go's all the way to Hot, just 3/4 of the way. Is it my heater core, water pump, radiator going out or what? Thanks for the help! It's a 1988 lx 5.0.

Could be a lot of different things. Start with the simple shit:
- Make sure your coolant level is good.
- flush out your cooling sysem.
- run 180 degree thermostat (if you aren't already).
- Check for leaks

Sorry to be negative- sounds like a blown head gasket. Remove the radiator cap and see if there is pressure in the radiator even before it warms up.
