well time to get some new heads, what do i need to do to run trick flow t/w heads? custom push rods? and do these come in a pedestal mount? or do i need stud mount rockers.Im looking into buying heads no later than tuesday so any suggestion's that might run good with my combo? please let me know. Not to forget i will be running a blower also now the juice is coming off. I plan to put the blower and heads on no later than this coming up weekend, so for sure i can make ford/chevy with the new combo.

They sure do! Just not as good as the AFR's. If you like to settle for second best get the TF's if you like to be 1st get the AFR's.

I think you are going to need different pushrods. The roller rockers are stud mount.

BTW, these are good heads [Wink]

Before this goes to far take note that nobody has said the TFs are better than the AFR's. Your car runs goos so Im sure you know AFR's are better. P.S. Im interested in the nitrouse kit if youre selling it PM me.

The trick flows have a problem with the Valve guides, I had a set when they first came out. I had to have the guides replaced only after a few thousand miles. I'd go with AFR's

valve guide wear is caused mostly because of bad valve train geometry.

Since we're on the topic of trick flow heads, I had a question for my buddys car. It's an 88 lx hatch mostly stock with trick flow twisted wedge heads. He is using the stock length pushrods and when the engine revs to around 3 grand he gets a very harsh vibration coming from the engine. I was wondering if different length pushrods are necessicary for the t/w heads? Also he has had the heads resurfaced many times (4 or 5, I can't remember) due to blown head gaskets. Also he is running crane 1.7 roller rockers.
edit: the harsh shaking / vibration is also when he is in neutral as well as in gear.

Obviosly he knows nothing about engine building so that one is not going to last long.
Did he bother to do any research before slapping the heads on? Yes, TFS recommends slightly longer pushrods- BUT- w/ that many shaves, the only way to be sure is to measure for corect pushrod length. Might even have wiped out the valve guides already.

The shaking sounds like a balance issue- wrong imbalance factor on flywheel or dampner 28oz vs. 50 oz. Or possibly bad dampner.

Do those $1900 heads outflow these for $200 less? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AFR-SBF-205cc-Cylinder-Heads-FORD-302-351-Mustang-205_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33617QQitemZ8034839104QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V I also heard the trickflows are good for low end torque? It kinda clashes with the boost idea but hell what do I know I own a 94 buick "scaper"

Ay .600 lift the 205 afr's flow better on the intake by 4 cf, and on the exhaust 7 cfm. But the ports measure 205 while the T/W's measure 185. Better low speed responce from the TFS heads and more port velocity.

yes they do on the intake at every point, could use more exhaust, based on the # but not sure what bore they used as AFR used a 4.125" so you would see a good drop going to 4.030"
