anyone on here know how to pull gears? and install new ones?...i would take it to a professional but i am the "do-it-yourself" enthusiast...and i am curios on how to install it anywasys...if theres anyone that wants to give me hand hand...let me know and we can set a day for it...how long does it usually take anyway?...well thanks CalFords and members!

I would just let the professionals do it. Gears are something you don't wanna try on your own first. A few members on here do it JohnB/ Haulinassmaro. I had Differential Doctors do mine and still runs excellent. Good luck [patriot]

If you need help having gears installed please give us a call at the shop and I am sure we can help you out. Dave Pine, our in house gear guy, does a real good job with them. After Dave installs the gears there is very little gear whine.

I also wanted to learn, so I did the gear swap and 31 spine upgrade myself. I had the luxury of the car not being my daily driver. You should first read several of the how-to's on the internet. There's alot of pics and step-by-step instructions. In addition to the standard tools I aready had, I had to buy a dial indicator & base, inch pound torque wrench, bearing separator, and a press. I rented (for free) a slide hammer with cuff-link style puller, a jaw-style puller, and bearing installers. The tool I didn't have was a pinion depth gauge, so it took some trial and error. It took me a while to do the gears and all bearings, but a lot of time was spent gathering everything. The experience was worth it.

Autumnstang, feel free to PM me with any questions if you decide to tackle this yourself. I can help you read your gear pattern (I only have experience with FRPP gears). I'd also be happy to let you use my press, but since I'm in Pleasant Hill, it's probably not worth it for you.
