My car keeps making a ticking sound every once and a while when I drive my car....Sometimes it'll be pretty loud and sometimes its just a light ticking sound thats fu*king annoying...Does anyone know what the problem is??? I heard it might be the valves and that I need to get them adjusted...Anyone else experience this problem and knows whats going on??? Also where is a good place I can get it fixed and around how much am I looking to spend??? Your help is greatly appreciated!!

a bad valvle would cause a lean condition and loss in power...it's probably not one of these...

it could be a bad lifter...when they go bad they make a ticking noise as well...

if it's a 5.0., you don't need to adjust the valves...hydraulic rollers motors don't need constant adjustment

You could take the valve covers off and check that your rocker arms are tight as well....

Also, run a good tank of gas through your car, bad gas can cause a slight tick as well....

You said that it does it every once in a while. When does it do? just at random or are you turning, accelerating, idle??

If it were your valves i think that would be more of a constant noise, not something that went away.

tail lights do work

oil pressure gauge is fu*ked up but I doubt thats the problem cause when I got the car a few monnths ago it wasn't making the noise...

I also heard about running a higher octane gas might make the knock go away but it doesn't actually fix anything.. I read this in a mag.

The noise is pretty consistent....Like after I've been driving it for about 10 minutes the knock will start and either get worse or stay the same, depending on what my car feels like doin....The knock is coming from the back of the motor near the valve covers. It ticks when it idles and also upon acceleration and even when I'm maintaining speed. Thanks alot for your guys's help.... Anymore suggestions??
