Any side jobbers out there, I have 2 fox body stangs that I am looking into swapping their motors. One is a 93 Cobra, the other is a 90 GT convertible. They both have 347 motors and it's the long blocks I want to swap - take the motor out of the Cobra, put it in the Gt. Take the motor out of the GT and put it in the Cobra.

The cams, heads, intakes, can stay on the motors, they don't have to come off. It's just a long block swap. The injectors will need to be swapped also.

The reason why I want to do this is complicated, but the bottom line is the Cobra motor is supercharged with 12 psi and it has 10.5:1 compression, which is causing me a lot of trouble. The GT motor is 9.5:1 and N/A. The 9.5:1 motor would be better with boost than the 10.5:1 motor. It's a long story how they ended up that way. Also the oil pan on the Cobra motor is cracked and needs to be replaced. So if I have to pull the motor anyway to fix the oil pan, the swap is something I have been wanting to do for a long time.

The work can be done in my garage or elsewhere, whichever. I'm looking to get an idea of how much this would cost me before I make any decisions on what to do.

The cars are in San Jose but can be driven somewhere else if we can figure out the logistics.

Help me out! ;-)

Thanks,

-Mark

No hurry. I guess it should be taken care of sometime this summer, but the Cobra is not my daily driver. It just means I can't race the car until it's fixed, and that's the main reason for having the car, so I should fix it sometime.
