Need a little help here. I keep on getting the check engine light on my parents 1997 GMC Yukon 4x4. I pulled up the code and I got (P0141 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 2). So…. I replaced the 02 sensor (the one right before the catalytic converter) pulled the old one out and compared it with a picture that the Haynes manual has. There was a slight white “coating” on the sensor. According to Haynes it might be an internal coolant leak. So we (pops and myself) check the cooling system and find a slight crack in one of the side “walls” (the plastic part) of the radiator. We get that fixed…. flush the cooling system, new coolant and new thermostat (just for the hell of it). I erased the code and the car was doing fine for a couple of days (5 at the most)…then. Last night it comes up again. Same code..what gives? Any help would be appreciated. [patriot]

are you sure you got the right sensor swapped?

if I recall correctly my `97 GMC had 4 O2's, one in each manifold then one before and after the cat.

not sure which one bank 1 sensor 2 is though?

I'm not familiar with the Chevy's but most cars run a relay to power the heater circuit to the O2 sensors- that would tie in with the 'heater circuit' code. Worth checking into.
