can you just drop a 351w in a 91 stang, and hook everything up or is there some modifying to be done so it will work

It's a bolt in, but items such as headers, dist, oil pan, etc...cannot be used. And yes, to the untrained eye..it looks like a 302. Depends on the smog guys knowledge.

I think their will be an issue with hood clearance also

If a truck lower and Holley upper are used, or a 90* elbow on a Spyder intake, it will clear a stock hood...minus the insulation.
