hey guys i need help i have a 1988 motor that i bought a while ago i am trying to put in my 1964 Ranchero. i went to get a computer harness and the guy at ford asked if the 1988 mustang had automatic transmission with computer comtroled overdrive. i dont know what he was talking about. is there a difference in the mustangs computers with computer controled overdrive and the ones without. i also need to know if there is a difference in the computer harness. thanks guys

automatic mustangs did not have computer controlled tranny's until 1995

surprised the fomoco parts guy didn't know that an AOD (foxbody auto) is not computer controlled...

The 88's did not have computer controlled automatics (AOD-E). But, the wiring harnesses are slightly different between a manual Mustang and automatic Mustang. There are actually transmission leads from the computer but they are not used. So, just get the harness to match the computer that you are using. Which EEC are you using? A9L?

if you can stay away from the 94-95 manual computers, it would be for the best, those pull timing between shifts for some reason
