This may not be the answer to your problem, I'm sure someone else will chime in and help. My 86 Z28, 305ci 4bbl carb, is doing the same thing. It's spurting oil out of the breather cap on the drivers side, the oil is hitting the header and burning and causing it to smoke real bad and there has been loss of power. I've been told by numerous people that the pistons rings are bad.
Hope maybe that gives you an idea.

Do you still have the baffles in your valve covers or have you removed them to clear aftermarket or any kind of rocker arms?

That is more than likely the problem.
At least from my experience.

I believe 91-93 are the valve covers you want to clear. Maybe early as 90, either way it is the one without the ribs in them if you want stock ones.
As far as what I have always used......TFS or FMS talls, plus they look tight.

Also FMS valve covers come with baffles that you have to install.
What valvetrain setup do you have?

Get a sealed breather with a hose attachment on each cover. Than run the hoses from both sides to a catch can with a breather filter on it. Mount the catch can above the covers so that any oil which spits out of the breathers can drain back down into the motor. This will keep everything sealed up

I used Black RTV on my PCV valve and seal. I am running a S/C application. The best thing to put the cork felpro valve cover gaskets on is gasket cinch. It looks like monkey snot. And be sure NOT to over tighten.
