Hi I want to put a tilt steering from an 89 stang into my car. Would I just swap the two columns. It has all the column trim pieces. I want to be able have some freakin leg room. What else would I have to do make this swap possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
G.C.

there's a knee panel under the wheel thats different, and you would need to disable the blue box behind the stereo to avoid the airbag deploying I believe.

I would also unplug the battery overnight before pulling it [Smile]

also, your instrument cluster is different, I dont think you will have a problem going FROM airbag to NONAIRBAG, but just something to keep in mind [Wink]

Would changing the instrument cluster be absolutely necessary to do the swap??

no, only if you were going the other way around (92 wheel into an 88 for example)

Nope. just giving you extra things to worry about...

another thing to worry about, is before you put it all back together, check that everything works wiring wise, For some reason (its been 2 years since Ive done a swap like this for a friend) i think there was something funny about the turn signal harness....but i may just be worrying you.....either way, if we did run into something, it only took us a few minutes to fix...
