im not a mechanic and i dont know much about cars, heres the situation. when i bought my stang, the guy had a new oem muffler put on. when i accellerate, sounds like somethings loose. its comin from the rear, but when i check underneath, looks ok. someone said the rear cv boot needs tightening, could that be it? can i do it myself?

Well theres no CV boots in the back of a live axle mustang so thats not it. Most likely it is bad upper control arms but without seeing the car I am just guessing at this point. If you want me to take a look at it for ya I can. I'm a lot cheaper than a shop and could tell ya whats happening after I see the car

Aww, c'mon guys enough with the sarcasm you're gonna have this guy worried about his muffler bearings... [Big Grin]

Besides he said that he had an OEM muffler installed, so I'm thinking it could be something in the suspension like the MTbaughs suggested...

Maybe one of the cats is rattling inside its shell or one of the bolts on the H pipe is loose.

Yeah give the poor guy a break. He was honest enough to admit he doesn't know about cars. [Smile]

probably what happened is the muffler now gets wacked by the flexing 4-link rear suspension, most amateur muffler installers (or lazy) will install mufflers without properly checking suspension clearance.
