Hey I'm wondering what company makes the best clutch?

I was thinking of getting a ford racing king cobra clutch.

it depends on your application if you are not that fast but have some mods then I would suggest a king Cobra Clutch. I had it and it was great!

Well if you are putting out 400hp then I would not suggest the King Cobra. Look at a SPEC Stage II or III depending on the street manners you are looking for.

I am only making a little over 300hp and did this to my King Cobra:
 -
 -

The friggin' thing exploded on me on the freeway shifting to fourth (at about 5500 RPM). I now have a SPEC Stage II and am very happy with it. It has the same pedal feel as the King Cobra (a little stiff), grabs nicely and is rated up to 475HP.

I love my centerforce DF clutch. A little stiff, but it has never slipped, and its been through 2 motors.

No. I am running the FMS flywheel which is basically the stock replacement. Just make sure that yours is smooth or have it turned.

If you're making lots of power, I'd check into getting a twin disc setup. They have twice the surface area as a single disc, and usually the pedal pressure required to release the clutch is less on a twin disc because you don't need to use a massive pressure plate. They can be somewhat tricky to drive on the street depending on the sytle of discs you use though.

Yes always have your Flywheel re-surfaces when you put on a new clutch and if you are putting out that much HP then I would suggest a spec stage II

Just what Ram clutch are you people not liking? I ran a Ram 900 for a long time with NO problems. And we are talking HUNDREDS of passes and 10's of THOUSANDS of miles with no problems.

Spec on the other hand.....

Spec is the perfict examle of a poor product getting enough internet hype that it somehow becomes the "top of the line". Spec products are VERY hit and miss, I would say that about 1 in every 5 clutch kits they sell actually has a throwout bearing that DOESN'T squeel and about 7 out of 10 of there clutches DO NOT live up to there rating, thats if they work at all. I have delt with more than my fair share of Spec products and I have to say that I will NEVER use any of there stuff on a vehical I own or work on ever again.

You can listen to those who sit and read message borads all day or you can listen to those who have already done the things you have questions about. Your choice.
