I am having problems with the idle on my 96 cobra. The car is idling at around 400 and when I rev it up it will come down and shut off. Could this be a bad sensor or somekind of adjustment. I just drove 450 miles the night before and it just started out of nowwhere in the morning. Any help would be appreciated.

Pop the hood and check the basics (kind of sounds like the MAF is unpluged or the throttle body elbow came off). If everything looks good, pull the codes from the computer.

make sure your getting spark to all cylinders. sounds similar to my friends 96 Cobra, ended up being a bad coil pack.

take a screw driver and hit the IAC and TPS sensors with the handle. Not too hard. One or the other, or both coule be hanging. If it is constant you will need a new one of either, whichever is bad.

Is your CE light coming on inside?
