Hello all,
My 2001 GT got totaled on friday, and i somehow made it out with no scratches. anyway the car is gone now, and i had VERY bolt on. i will probably try and get all the parts off it and sale them. anyway, imma go back to a 5.0. i will need ur expert opinion. i am wondering if i should get a project car and do it al myself, or just buy 1 that is already fixed up, wut do you guys think? what do you suggest i get for my first mods? thankx again.

this is really up to you to decide. it all depends on how comfortable you are working on your own car. buying an already lightly modified stang, you're looking to spend around $4,000-6,000. if you were to start from scratch, you can pick up a fox for about $2,000-3,000. by the time you build you engine, new paint, suspension, and so on you are close to $10,000 total. these are just estimated guesses here, but you get the point. either way you go,its all about money .

well,
i can buy a messed up stang right now from a from for like $500 or a lil less, but i guess i could by one that is already decent looking. maybe ill get a nice looking one and then do all the mods. i came from a 2000 gt, so what mods should i get for a 5.0? i do not want to get NOS. i want all motor. will a 5.0 wit every bolt on be faster than my 2000 stang that had all the mods?

My first thought was: "what does he mean by his 2000 with all the mods?"
Then my next thought was: "Hell yes, a bolt on 5.0 will be faster then a '00 with the bolt ons."

at this point in time it looks like a typical H/C/I 302 should get the edge on the 2V 4.6.
*but* there's more and more people running 'stage n' ported stock PI heads, cams, ported intakes etc. that should take the 4.6 to nearly (or past) what a 302 can do. Only problem is the SN-95 is a bit heavy.

id buy a project car for a couple hundred bucks, if u buy a modded stang, more than likely it has been raced. id rather start from scratch and know the history of the car with the new motor and tranny and what ever else

this gets my vote! take it from someone who bought a 'stock' 1990 50 and had the lifters collapse at 50k. do it yerself, and you'll never have to blame anyone else! get a stroker from coast high performance for motivation [ November 19, 2003, 10:49 PM: Message edited by: shiftylx ]
