Topic: Loud rear end moan

I was thinking it might be from the lack of anti-moan brakects. I have the diskbrakes-r- us Cobra kit. Sounds like a very loud moan when turning under power, left or right . Any one ever had the trouble and fixed it ? I have check for rubbing on the tires and there is not any. I can't find any rubbing from anythig so now I am at a loss.The Diff has been rebuilt using a extra disk. Did that not to long ago. New gears ,bearings, gear oil ,only about 500 miles. This started the first time I installed the disk brake kit ( If I remember right), Now it's even louder with the newer kit.

It's a loud moan, Like rubbing thats not showing up anywhere.

Because of the C clips in the diff, the axles can still move from left to right pretty easy...
Check to see if the rotor is rubbing on the caliper or the caliper bracket...

flip your driveshaft 180* where it bolts up to your rearend, we have seen this problem, before and sometimes it is as simple as that

Hey tri bar I still want that cover can you give me a call so we can set up another time to meet up. Also I had the same exact problem with my car when I converted to 5 lug rear disk. I have a rear end out of a origional 93 cobra R. The rear end came from the factory with 355 gears and 5 lug disk so its all factory stuff. The problem is that the rotors are two piece bonded together. The outer is cast iron and the center hub is steel. I don't know if yours are like this. Any way the rotors have a tendency to warp the mounting surface since its not cast iron. I tried to rotate the rotors 180 degrees on the axles. It fixed one side but I had to live with the side. The fix is to buy new rotors!!!!!!!!! I don't know if this will help you but it sure sounds like the same problem I had. ![[patriot]](graemlins/patriot.gif)

I installed the anti-moan brackets, It turned out to be the trouble. They really do work. No more moan.
