This is going into my 93 convertible AOD. I plan to make 300-320(MAX) RWHP naturally aspirated. It is getting a mild Crane cam, GT40 heads and mild stuff like that. Just a daily driver.

My question is, should I worry about getting stuff like a strengthened oil pump shaft, hi flow water pump and other things like that?

nah, you should have no problems. I would not worry about it.

300-320 rwhp through an AOD with GT40 heads? I hope you got one of those trophy stock cam with lobes that are squarish in shape [Eek!] The stronger oil pump shaft wouldn't hurt, but the high flow water pump will just rob HP.

I ended up trashing my first HO motor because when spinning it to 6k the oil pump shaft gave out, killed the oil pressure obviously, and I got some main bearing damage and rod knock before I shut it down.
If you only spin it to 5500 or below it should be good but hey if the oil pan isn't on yet I wouldn't hesitate myself.
