Would 305's fit on a 18x9 rim? I currently have 285 35's on the rear, but it is time to get new rubber. Just wanted to know if i could throw 305's on, or should i just try some 295's?!?

00Knightmare has 295/35's on the back and they look great...........but his rims are 10.5 in the back so i dont think you can go with 305 they may bow out

Why don't you just throw on some 35 inch M/S? [Wink] [Razz]

For real though, I think that a 305 is to wide for a 9 inch wheel

So you are saying i shouldn't anything bigger than a 295 max, or just sit tight with tiny 285's? [burnout]

295's would be do-able...but I wouldn't see a reason to spend the extra $. 285's are perfectly fine.

I have 18/9.5's all the way around my 87 Saleen. Got the wheels with 245's upfront and 275's in the back. Does anyone know what the "correct" tire size should be on a 9.5" wide wheel?

295's are to big for a 9. You can do it, but it will roll like hell. Your performance will not be as good. Come to the bbq on the 17th, and look at wikd281's car. He has 9's with 295.
My 10's are only running a 285, and it looks great. Who makes a 305?

On a 9in. rim you really shouldn't go any bigger than a 285. I have 285's and will be dropping to a 275 soon. If you put too wide of a tire you won't get the full contact patch because your running a 35 series tire. Don't forget your overall diameter. That will throw the speedo off a little.

A new company (Aurora) came out with a Ventus series tire and they offer it in 275/35-18 at only $150 each. Tread is just like a BFG Comp T/A. You can get those at any Les Schwab.

I had some Ventus on my old rims, i was looking into some more for these, i can get 255 35's for $134, for the front. Also Nitto makes a 305 size tire, but i will stick to 285's in the rear. Thanx for your help and info..

Ford puts BFG 265/35's on the 2000 cobra R, but my wheels need curb protection! and that starts at 285's.

The stock 2000 R tire was actually a 265/40ZR18 BFG KD on the 18x9.5" rims.

I just replaced my tires with 4 275/35ZR18 Kuhmo's. That size will also not rub in the front. Anything larger than this in front will rub, but some folks do run a little larger tires in the rear. I wanted to have all four tires at the same size so I could rotate front to back. The camber setting on the front tends to wear the tires, and rotating them helps make them last longer.

That's why I'm selling the 2 245 size tires I took off of the front, in the FORD sale section.

on my Saleen, 275's wouldn't work on the front at all. Thanks for the replies. I totally understang the comment on curb protection. In the front I an Fucked if I come close to a curb or even a pot hole. LOL

Thanks for the correction, you would know the correct size, cuz it's in your garage! Hey you should take the 2000 R to our next meet. I would love to check it out. The last one I saw out and about was at the DVMA show 2 yrs ago.

If it's not raining, and the recall work gets done this week, I probably will take it to the next meet, and the dyno day.
