Are you two going to be able to make it out to the track this Friday? I'll be there testing out my new ET Streets and taking that rain check for that other time we went.

Nah, not this weekend. Too much has been going on lately. We used our rain-check the week after & ended up with a 13.1 @ 105.5....over 10 runs too! Since then, I blew my engine. D'oh! I've got a lot of stuff to do these next few weeks.
Good luck though! Let me know how those ET's work out. I've been debating...ET streets, or BFG Drag radials. High speed rearend wobble scares me. [ May 23, 2002, 02:34 AM: Message edited by: 93PONY ]

13.1? What was her best before? Just think, almost to the 12's! How did your engine blow? What all broke? I'll let you know how the tires do, I got too good of a deal to pass on them and the BFG DR size I wanted was backordered so the decision was pretty easy for me. I guess I'll just have to try 15 psi to see if that'll reduce the wobbling.

Previous best was a 13.4 @ 104. The track was hooking that day. I got a 1.80!
Well, the rings went.... The heads also have weak valve springs. She'll be out for a while. The engine builder quoted $3K! So, I'll be doing most of the work myself. For now, I'll just have them machine the block & decide what to do later.
Hopefully you can pull some hellish 60fts & get some low 13s!

3K?
Fuck that I have 3 or 4 good bottom ends that Ill sell cheap and you can put some valve springs in your heads no problemo but if the springs are shot the seats and guides are prolly crapo too so I say AFR or TFS time.
Easy fix

Thanks. I saw the crank & bearings today. The crank had scares along with the bearings. One bearing had the coper showing. She needs a stronger bottom end. New plan with my engine builder. It's cheaper to get an Eagle stroker kit w/12cc dished pistons. I can get it from him for $1395. Keith Craft & DSS were $1500-1600. Then the block prep will run $575 for bore/hone, line hone, deck, etc. $300 to balance the kit with my balancer & flywheel, $275 for assembly & bearings, $80 for a timing chain....anyway, it should run just about $2800 for the shortblock. Then the heads....If I don't have larger valves installed it'll be ~$450. So total for a forged 331 w/stock GT-40 irons will be about $3250 +tax. In the future I'll probably make the swap to AFR's, but for now that would only cause me more problems & $$$. My fuel system isn't up to the task...let alone the rest of the car!
Poisoned: This is at Aarons Machine in Roseville. He does know his shit & runs a tight shift. His guys OLNY do what he wants them to do....when he wants them to do it. I had an engine built at Rex about 6 years ago & wasn't impressed with them. It was right after Rex turned the shop over to his son. Good price, but I had to take the engine back twice for minor issues. Your 4 valve is going to be more expensive no matter what.
