WHAT IS THE MOST RWHP I CAN GET OUT OF A STOCK BLOCK WITH A SUPPORT GIRDLE BEFORE IT CRACKS IN HALF? THANX IN ADVANCE

im not sure. i think like 400 - 550 hp. im not really sure. ask your friend in the 89 hatchback lx

Well if you think about it, those blocks can take a s**t at less horsepower than that. Just have to have your car tuned right and have no predetonation...

Mine had 'bout 475 or a hair less going to the rear wheel on a 175 dry shot. Completely bone stock bottom end, only change was the cam in the lower end. I had a buddy who used to own my coupe that went 9.30's in a stock block.

Prolly get away with more if you half fill it and go with as close to a standard bore. Real good balance job and EXCELLENT block prep. And a VERY good balancer. Im sure that Normans block (Castros buddy that went 9.30) was prepped to the moon ( I believe reggie jackson prepped it) and Giasis handled the HP but for how long? You should have seen the damage when I pulled it apart after he rattle one piston.

I would say as far as everyday driver type situation you are gonna wanna stay below 450 rear wheel horsepower.
