hey so I took my 89 gt to get smogged today, motor is all stock, has bbk catted H pipe.
these were my results, I have passed many times with two cat cars , this smog tech was bitching about the two cats however, but he said that's not the reason I failed.. he said my egr is not functionable? what does that mean?
and my timing is supposedly off? has anyone heard of this?
was hoping somebody can tell by my results what I needed to do? wanted to smog tomorrow if possible.

Replace the egr valve clean the egr ports an should drop the nox.
The egr helps cool the cylinder temperature .

The egr looked brand new , like previous owner had replaced it .. I'll check it out tho ! Thanks bro!

See if he cleaned the ports if not sea foam an coat hanger on the end of a drill will clean the parts up.

I would also check the TAB & TAD sensors, located on the passenger side of the engine bay.
... and welcome to the system. MY car also got flagged as a GP, ever since then: Gold station and now Star program. NOT FUN!

How would I test these ? For voltage or vacuum ? Thanks

It's a vacuum connection.
I found mine when I did my engine swap, so it was after the fact.

9 out of 10 you fail for nox it's a egr problem.
