306 is cylinder bore of 30 over stock bore ,if the piston is the same compression as the stock 302 piston there is not much difference ..and nine times out of 10 most shops will throw in hyper pistons to save money over your older forged pistons [ 2013-06-22, 09:42 PM: Message edited by: 50Reasons ]

+1 for Dana info IMHO if you do all the work and spend all the money going 306 it would be more effective to go with a striker kit or even a 327 which is a stock bore 331 if I remember correctly

And to add to that, probably 80% of aftermarket "306" or .030 over standard bore pistons that I see have a lower compression height than the good ole stock 87-92 TRW slugs that came in these wonderful little motors.
That being said the 306 isnt always going to outperform the 302.
Not always, but usually.

One benifit of going 30 over is picking higher compression pistons with also bigger valve reliefs for ptvc for those bigger cams [ 2013-06-22, 09:47 PM: Message edited by: 50Reasons ]
