I have an 89 mustang 5.0. Weird thing happening. The mustang will start up with no problems. I drive it to work in the morning. It sits for a few hours. Starts up fine when I take it to lunch. Sits 2 more hours I drive home. Starts fine. I then drive home about a 45 minute commute. I stopped on the way home to get a quick drink. Came back out the car started but then quickly died. Try to start again it just pudders then dies. Battery is reading 12.5V, everything is powered. If I let the car sit for 10 minutes it will start back up and run fine. This seems to happen when its hot out. This is the second time this happened. Battery and alternator seem fine. Car is not overheating. Could this be a timing problem or wires getting to hot. The interesting thing is the car runs great until you shut it off then it seems to pudder on the next start. Any ideas would be appreciated.

it could be your starter...if it gets too hot car will have trouble starting, you might need to get a heat resistant insulation sheet wrapped around the starter. you might need this

Sounds like the TFI Module on the distributor is going bad.
