Wow thats a wild looking setup on the cover of that Hot Rod.Looks like a direct drive supercharger.

Yeah, they were pretty popular back in the day for slingshot dragsters and salt flat cars because they didn't stick up so high. The one on the cover is a GMC 4-71 with a Hilborn fuel injection.
