Ok. So I'm getting ready to drive my coupe, and I'm thinking of making it my daily driver. The only thing that worries me is those F@CKING thieves out there. I wouldn't feel confertable parking it at school, at work, at the mall or at a ball game. What do you guys do to protect your cars (other than the ovious, like alarms and kill switches)?

100% do not be scared to drive your Mustangs daily, but do take precautions.

- Alarm (Remote notifier which notifies you if the Alarm has been triggered is a good idea)

- Kill Switch

- Physical Anti-theft mechanism (I use the Auto-Lock)

None of this stuff guarantees your car won't be stolen, but it lowers the probability.

I recall looking at some statistics and the Ford Mustang does not even hold a torch to the Civic, Accord, and Camry as far as car theft goes. Maybe someone has the statistics on hand? But it does seem to be common in our area however.

Good point. And I've been driving 89 Escort for the past year. The ladies won't even come close to it (no matter how good the game is). I used to get all kinds of chicks breaking their necks looking at my last mustang. Woman love mustangs. Its a known fact.

+2 not really a good idea to tell theives how to steal these cars.

At any rate, if someone really wants to take it they will. How would you protect you car from someone towing it? [Smile]

The best form of protection is to park it out of site in a secure garage and make sure you have theft insurance to cover your loss (document any mods with pics, serial numbers, receipts, etc).

Other than that you can slap multiple theft deterant devices on your car and hope that a thief decides to steal something easier [patriot]

Unfortunately f a bitch as crook wants your car they are gonna take it no matter what. Only thing you can do is be smart. If you fail to plan you plan to fail. Lo Jack IMO is great. It makes recovery time much quicker thus less likely destroyed. Just be mindful of your surroundings

turn wheels all the way to right or left until steering is locked then remove detachable wheel and hide it in the car or somwhere else it would be hard to tow away with wheels turned

1.multiple kill switches,ignition/fuel/msd box
2. decent alarm/pager type alarm
3. auto lock
4. park in where you can see the car or hear it
5. remove valuables gps/stereo/mp3 player
6. block car in with friends car
7.gps tracking,lo jack
8. park in reverse, leave in gear so they have to drag it out if the use a tow truck
9. etch your vin # on your glass, mark your parts with d/l number and initials
10. Dont drive your car to work/school if it is known for being a hot spot for thieves.

But keep in mind if someone wants your car bad enough they will find a way to get it.Get a good theft policy and document all your parts. All of the above wont keep your car from being stolen but might deter a thief, thieves are opportunistic they look for easy low risk cars.

Car thieves already know all about the ways to steal the cars...its not like were giving out anything new.

I'm inventing 50,000 volt stun seats for the car. If a thief should tamper the ignition switch, the computer will activate the volt jolt in the seats, steering wheel & door knobs. The thief will be immobilized and your remote will beep. Check to see if the thief is slowly getting fried. Then call the cops. Another thief off the streets. How's that? [burnout]
