These fucking idiots.

Fire all Bart staff. Radicate teh union. Hire all new people off of the street for half price. You can leave the great benifits teh same. Let them re orginize into a new union and call it a day.

BART literally has no extra money to hand out any more money for extra benifits and wages.

That Union can go fuck themselves for being that selfish in an economic downturn!!!

Unions offered a counter proposal that would save the district over 760 mil in 25 years just by changing the vested service time from 5 to 15 years. Why do you think BART wont entertain the idea? Many upper management will never see 15 years of service thus losing out Retiree medical coverage. Don't just blame the unions. Those running BART are way more guilty of looking out for themselves.

This is for future employees. All existing employees will be grandfathered under past labor agrements. In the long run it might save some money but right now it is going to cost a boat load more!

This is one of the problems with this country.... Everyone wants to make good money but people don't want to WORK for it... I'm a manager for a WH... Anything goes wrong it's my ass. I'm salary and work on average 50 hrs a week. Is it fair for everyone else to make the same wage as me? Even if they are doing more physical work then me?

What I'm trying to say is people need to man up work hard and move up and quit bitchin' about money.

Actually I am and tired of all the negative comments and people crying about this and that. Apply next time positions open up, which there should be some when this is all over. It's nothing glamorous and is just enough to live in the Bay Area as a single person, renting that is! Not everyone at BART makes as much as the news mentions.

Did you know: as of the early 80's all BART trains are for the most part automated an all the driver has to do is it a button when the all the passengers are on board. The majority of the time they read newspapers or talk on the phone. Next time you are on BART walk to the head train and watch the guy/gal. They wont be doing much of anything.

Did you know: That the service agent you see at the stations primary respocibility is to make sure people dont jump the gate.

Did you know: That a person that makes 15 dollars an hour at BART actually costs more around 35-45 an hour burdened out?

Train Operators and Station Agents need to be there for emergency evacuations. Just because things are automated doesn't necessarily mean it can be left alone. What happens if there is an object that's on the tracks that the train cntrollers can't see? What happens if someone tries to commit suicide and is standing on the tracks. What if some dumb ass patron jumps down onto the tracks because he drop his iPod? Go to Bart.gov and look under job descriptions to see what is needed as a TO or SA. Same goes for SA. Fare evaders are left for Bart Police mainly. There's more to it....

Your missing the point...

Why should a train operator that arguably only has to look forward and hit a button in case of an emergency get paid 25+ an hour before fringes? Thats 50K to hit an emergency stop button. Add health and welfare for a middle age man with a wife and two kids is another 12K-30K a year depending on age. Pension is around another 5 dollars plus an hour.

Total income of anywhere from 72K-90K a year to hit one button...

Dont get me wrong. The actual dispatchers that coordinate all the information that is receveid from all the train controll rooms are worth every penny they get paid. Think of them as air traffic controllers. But sadly they are the smallest amount of employees.

+2 hahahahaha

This guy is missing the point it's a liability issue anything goes wrong you hit something it's the opperators ass not the guy sitting at operation control looking at the trains on a screen, like the guy who tunes your car should you pay him less then a guy doing a run of the mil tune up cause he's not physicly working as hard?
