My wife's been asking me what I want for father's day and I've been contemplating asking for another gun I already have a Sig 226 that I love, but I'm looking for something different now. I've been thinking about a revolver, rifle, or shotgun. People have always said a revolver, shotgun, or rifle are the best home defense guns since they're more reliable than semi-auto pistols, but just not sure what to get. I dont want her to spend too much, just something decent that I can have fun with at the range and blast mo fo's if they try and test me at the house
Any suggested guns????

Buy something you will actually shoot on a regular basis. Since Obama took office, ammo prices have been through the roof. So specialty calibers like .44mag, .500S&W, etc are through the roof. Even common stuff like .308win, 9mm, and .223 are crazy expensive. .22lr and 12ga are still relatively cheap though. I'd suggest either a shotty or a Ruger 10/22.

I was thinking of an ak47 or ar15...my buddy built a sick ass ar15 but he has waaay too much money in it. I want something basic that'll "do the job!"
What caliber ammo do ar15's and ak47's shoot? I don't want a .22 since it won't do much stopping for home defense.
*albert...I'm down! Or, just sell me one

you def wont find a cali legal ak going for 400 to 600...maybe 800 to 1200...i had a stag ar 15 and it was okay but now i have a mini 14 and its easier to shoot for newbies to the gun hobby and i dont get those crazy looks at the gun range when people who are less gun savvy see you with a ASSUALT WEAPON and get nervous...that being said ill probably get another AR soon but i'd get a glock 17...ill never part with mine

what's a mini 14? Also...I found a place that has new ak's for $500 Cali legal! Is the ammo hard to come by? I know standard .40 cal ammo is a bitch to find nowadays so I'm assing others are as well.

Just get an 18" shotgun. 12 gauge shells are still cheap compared to .40-.45 rounds.
It'll be hard to miss with some 00 shot!

Please keep the suggestions coming. Really looking for a shotgun or rifle. I know nothing about them so any input is welcome! Let me know what model, why you suggest it, etc...

If you looking for home defense nothing better than a shotty mik nasty. Pack it with some hot geese shot and have fun. Don't have to worry about missing. One shot then call the cops.
Word used in a sentence. Theres some dead fucker in my halway. I split him in half with my shotty mik nasty

I think I'm leaning towards a Mossberg 500 Pump. I've been researching them and although they dont look very cool out the box, they definitely look a lot better with some of the mods that are available: pistol grip, front grip, folding stock with a side saddle, heat shield, etc...
