Yesterday, I went to go see a 78' dodge power wagon that is up for sale. The person who is selling it said the 318 has all new gaskets from the pan up to the carb. New oil pump, new timing chain, rebuilt holley- four barrel with a 4' lift...etc Everything looked great. Car started right up. Up until I started to test drive it... By the time I hit the corner, I found that the heater core was leaking radiator fluid and spilling all over the floor. Is this the heater core a big problem? Also, the guy does not have the pink slip but it is reg' to his name and he did smog it a week ago. I plan to purchase this (unless otherwise)..do i need the pink slip to transfer the title?
any suggestions..?
thanks, Calvin

I bought a car with a lost pink slip and it was the biggest hassle of my life. Back in the day I used to buy them all the time like that. File for lost pink slip and bam. But now-a-days I dont think it flows like that. It was a big ASS hassle. I'll never do it again.

So I called DMV and they said that I do need the pink slip to transfer the name to mine...my question is can I do a paperless title certification?
So, I had that guy put in a newer heater core for that power wagon yesterday and I left a $200 deposit to claim the car then give the rest when I see him. NOW this guy ant answering my phone calls... My gut feeling tells me that he just took me for $200...

You don't need a pink slip to transfer the title. The owner must fill out a lost title (with transfer) form and I believe it needs to be notarized.

Do you know where I can find this form?
Thanks! Calvin

I would try to do this all at DMV with the seller if I were you. Just to be safe! [ May 23, 2008, 08:18 PM: Message edited by: Venomized93 ]
