Topic: Anyone know the law about wheels/tires sticking out the fenders?

Im just curious because i got pulled over earlier by undercovers saying my wheels stick out in the back. They really didnt sound like they knew what they were talking about. When i first got pulled over, they asked me to step out the vehicle right after i handed them the regis/license/insurance.. They were two undercovers, one of them told me that they pulled me over because i didnt give turn signals and the other one said because my wheels were "too" out..
Last i heard they can be certian inches from the fender? 4inches?

that seems like some bs right there. check it out at your local law library. theres one in redwood city i use to look up shit at.....

I wouldnt know, i asked them over and over about how much can it be before its illegal, they kept saying "it cannot stick out from fenders at all". Prior to this i never had issues with CHPS or anything, they would just pass right by.

Mine stick about an inch MAX .. Yeah that was my first instinct that they had me mistaken for a drug dealer or something lol All i was doing was going in circles looking for parking in SSF off Grand Ave.
They were in a unmarked green Ford Taurus.
I remember someone on this board knew and said that it was something like 4inch or something

27600 CVC: Inadequate fenders or mudflaps. (Citeable if the tire tread extends outside of wheel well.)

Citeable if the tire tread extends any distance outside of wheel well.
If you want, you can google. But the way the law reads, the tread cannot extend any distance outside the wheel well unless there are mudflaps or splash aprons that "afford adequate protection to effectively minimize the spray or splash of water or mud to the rear of the vehicle and all such equipment or such body or attachments thereto shall be at least as wide as the tire tread".

well, your wrangler doesn't have a front plate, third brake light, and the tires stick out of the wheel wells like 3-4 inches, yet we don't gett pulled over for it. idk, i guess that's racial profiling.
