are there any dealerships that are a lil more likely to ignore mods to a vehicle that is in for service.just bought a 06 f250 diesel and did a airbox,exhaust and a programmer.best truck ive ever owned just dont wanna get fucked if it ever needs warranty work.

The exhaust won't be a problem, as long as you kept the cat. The airbox is iffy. If the filter dosen't seal all the way (like some aftermarket ones don't) and you drive it like that it could dust the motor, that wouldnt be under warranty. If the air filter oil clogs the MAF you'll have major drivability issues (not under warranty). If you get a recall notice saying PCM, FICM, TCM recall 06E17, don't do it. With that airbox it will cause your CEL to come on and stay on. The programmer could be a problem. What kind is it? Edge? Superchips? Either way those programmers can or might do damage down the road. You'll really bring down the reliabilty and durability of the engine and transmission with one. A good diesel tech can usually spot if a program is installed or a programmer module like the Edge. If you blow out your head gaskets pushing 50 lbs. of boost and when the tech gets the heads off it's pretty easy to tell if the vehicle has a programmer. The injector spray pattern on the top of the piston is way larger than that of a stock truck and there's no way to hide that. So you gotta think, a tech thats pissed because he has to rip the heads off a 6.0 finds a programmer caused the gaskets to fail will most likely try to make the repair customer pay. Customer pay- 20+ hours at $90-110 an hour. Warranty- 12-14 hours. Or just do like everyone else, just take the programmer off, disconnect the battery, clear the codes, and drop it off at a dealer complaining of it running rough and play dumb. People do it all the time. Some guys acutally leave thier Edge A-Pillars or Banks Sidewinder PDA cradles in plain sight and deny the truck has been modified. Just ditch the programmer or it'll cost you down the road.

Answer: Absolutely. Advise your customers against use of aftermarket chips. They exceed the specifications that we use to validate the design. Typically, they up the turbo boost by changing the calibration or by tricking the Powertrain Control Module with a modified sensor signal. We've seen many durability problems in the field -- not only with the engines, but more frequently with the transmissions. As well as causing durability problems, repairs resulting from such modifications are not covered by the new vehicle warranty. The warranty and policy manual on page 3-17 addresses this and in part states: "If, however, the non-Ford product fails or causes a Ford part to fail, the cost of the repair and any related damage are not covered by the Ford New Vehicle Limited Warranty. For example, the new vehicle warranty does not cover damage caused by:
Alteration or modification of the vehicle including body, chassis or components after the vehicle leaves Ford Motor Company’s control (Lift Kits, Oversized Tires, Roll Bars, etc.).
Misuse of vehicle, such as driving over curbs, overloading, racing or using the vehicle as a stationary power source (hauling in excess of G.V.W.).
Tampering with the vehicle, tampering with emissions systems or with other parts that affect these systems (Performance Chips, Exhaust, Intake Systems, etc.).

i think im gonna just take the tuner off the truck anyways.it doesnt seem right for a 8000lbs truck to be beating stock mustangs.
