You cant beat a Jap bike for performance/price. How much riding experience do you have? I have had 600's 750's, and 1000's, and I will never go less than 1000cc again! People will tell you that you will never need a 1000 on the street, bullshit! Its all about the horsepower, and acceleration between gears. When I bought my 01 929 people told me that I would never need a bigger bike, but that bike would not stand up in 3rd gear without the clutch either. Also there will be a guy that will post on this topic that thinks everyone that mentions sport bikes is into MOTO GP. Dont listen to him, trust me.

what made you sell it? I'm considering selling my baby right now, just don't know if I'd have the heart to do it. Thinking about Acura TSX, Subaru Legacy 2.5GT, or Mazdaspeed6. Maybe 05 Volvo S60 R or Trailblazer SS...

I am a believer that you do not need a 1000cc on the streets. I have a buddy with an 03 R6 with +2 in the rear and he could stand it up in 3nd gear no problem. The truth is 95% of people will never use a 600cc to its full potential. If you want to shred it up in the twisties and not worry about throttle control get a 600cc. If you want to go fast in a straight line get a 1000cc.

I wouldnt get a ducati unless you have good cash inflow. They need to be serviced frequently and it isnt cheap. The riding position sucks balls for everyday use. I could barely make it from vacaville to fairfield on my buddies 748. I made him pull over and switch me bikes back. Mind you I had a 636 which has a pretty aggressive riding position.

Bikes are awsome, Ducatis are great but have a huge maitaince bill. Every 3000 miles think of a complete top end rebuild plus oil and all the other shit. My uncle races Duc's, great bikes but really exspensive. Jap bikes are much much better on your wallet, just as fast and way easier on maintence. For the price you are looking at Id get a nice used 600, dont worry if its your first bike its plenty fast. Id run an 03+ ZX6R or a 04+ GSXR or 03+ r6 with that kind of cash. Hondas RR is cool also I just dont like the Hondas personally. I recommmend these because these are the fuel injected newest years of these bikes in your budget, keeping 4 carbs in-sink is a bitch.

man, I envy the guys who can part with their stangs.

I just can't seem to do it even though I would be happier without mine, lol.
Drives me crazy how obsessive I am with this automobile.

Thanks for the info... i am mainly selling my car for college money, but i still need a ride and figured a bike would be cheaper for parking gas insurance and over all more practical. it was a hard decision, but i am pleased with it.

rebuild every 3k miles!!!? yea, i think a yamaha will fit me better.
Seriously, thanks for ur help a lot. but what is a great way to convince a stubborn german. the financial thing doesnt really work. i finished an msf course and rode a dirtbike for a while and a real bike in germany for a bit.

I did the same thing, sold my fox body for college money for me and my wife. I was planning on getting a bike but my brothers new R6 is always available [Big Grin] In your situation, I would buy a used 600, mid 90's and ride it for 6 months to a year. you will drop it, scratch it, forget to put the kickstand down, all the rookie mistakes we all make and be able to sell it for almost if not what you bought it for and step up to a newer bike once you get some rideing time under your belt. I actually know of a 97 CBR F3 (600 cc) that is purple and yellow, been down, scratches but would make a great beginner bike in SF for around $3000 if you are interested
