The next round of the American AutoX Series is July 2/3 at Castle Airport in Atwater (Merced)
This is the Larry Park Memorial (the founder of the series) and usually the biggest/fastest event of the year.
There will also be a dinner in town Saturday night for anyone interested.

Is this open to normal street cars, based on the website it looks like you need to be SCCA legal. I am 1.5 hour drive away and considering checking it out.

It is one of the best weekends of autocrossing all year. Any car can enter as long as it passes tech. See ya there. [Cool]

Anyone have a clue of what class im gonna be in?? Look at my mods in sig to configure.

Posted by alwaysracin (Member # 5204) on :

the M3 looks with what mods you have posted will be in BSP.

This is going to be a great event. last year my co-driver and I were hitting the rev limiter in third (around 115) this year I heard Frank (the course designer) wants to go faster !!!! But we were driving one of the faster accellerating cars

SEE YOU there!

Sorry for double posting but i got a question. Can we get practice runs in? David i think i may have to pretend that im going there just to watch. My parents dont like the idea of me wasting my tires again. Im gonna say that im going there to support u. Also, how wide is the track?

Whats a PAX Factor??

Posted by alwaysracin (Member # 5204) on :

BSP races against C4 Corvettes not Z06s. BSP PAX
is .839, same as SCCA. Bob Tunnell would have one in 2001, in his '95 M3, but Vic won in his 240Z (who I was co-driving with). Locally we have Harold Olsen who won BSP nationally last year and Kevin Kluge, who bought the ex-BSPL national champion car. Having good competition is always a plus. So if you can compete with them, then your all good!

I live in South San Jose, but not sure when I'm going to leave, most likely early Saturday morning with Rob Boynton and his trailor. He gets back from France tomorrow night so I will know more then.

Later,
Scott Fraser

damn i really wish my car was ready by this weekend. ooh well, i guess i will have to wait till the next one. i will still try to stop by just to see what it is like. ooh yea, and what class do u think a stock(suspension wise) 99 cobra should be in. and i heard if i get subframes welded in then its not to good bc it would move me up a class. is that true? ty guys

Posted by 98M3Pride (Member # 5798) on :

Answer his question and mine. What's PAX factor mean?

Posted by 9cobra9 (Member # 4470) on :

if ur still on bill call me now k

Posted by alwaysracin (Member # 5204) on :

if you add sub frame connecters you go to a really tough class... Street Mod.

a stock suspension mustang is usually F Stock. some other mustangs are different.

Pax- a made up number to make it more driver vs. driver even with different cars.

thank you for the info, but i will prolly wind up getting the sub frames i think its the best bang for the buck.

I'm heading up tomorrow morning.

say hi if you see me, I'll be driving the white notchback in street tire, 3rd run.

I'll probably be docked my points though, run 3 says to work run 1 but I'm not waking up at 6am for that bullshit, lol. I'll try to work run 4

Posted by 9cobra9 (Member # 4470) on :

yea, so bill(98 m3) and i are going to be there for sure. probably around 10am

I just got back from this event. It was my first auto-x event. I thought i wouldve done better but its harder then it seems. The first 2 times i went i out i spun out but saved myself. Those times i hit 72 sec and 70 sec. Then third run i got a decent one in. Got used to the track and ran 61 sec. And every other time i just kept improving. 4th run- 59.90. 5th run- 59.50 My goal for that day was just get into the 50's. So i made that so im satisfied. Cant wait for the next one.

Posted by 9cobra9 (Member # 4470) on :

although i didnt drive this time, wow. it was a nice experiance. i enjoyed watching and being in the car. any way i cant wait until the next event and drive this time.

ran street tire class, stock 5.0

best of back to back 61's by my co-driver, I did 63's/64's all day. My new front tires suck compared to the old bridgestone's, shouldn't have gone with yokohama's [Frown]

Nice. Ur bringing back good memories of how nice the course was. It kinda sucks that they change it every event.

There is a table set up in the pit area near the staging area. Just ask someone next time and they will point you in the right direction. The people working are there to participate as well, so it is very casual. The cost is $35 for a run group(5 laps) and for $20 more you can run a fun group(5 laps). As far as working, it is necessary to work as a corner worker during a run group. Everyone works as well as races, run a group and work a group.

Kevin, nice pics. Looks like you had a fun layout. I wanted to take my 05 down there, but I could not swing it.

yeah it was the most wide open layout that I've been to there, easily twice as big as before [burnout]
