Has anyone ever installed their own torque arm or panhard bar? How long did it take? And do you have any tips for someone who has not done this before(me)?

Well I've only been part of installing a few maximum kits as I like the quality of the Griggs products but theres a few tips to keep in mind when doing this job. Make sure you do use the plumb bobs to square the panhard bar in. Also any and all measurements they call for in the directions make sure you get right on the money and not just close. All the maximum panhard bars I've seen will not clear a T/A rear end cover so if you have that you might be getting rid of it for a stock cover. Many aftermarket tail pipes have real trouble clearing the maximum panhard bar and often you must cut and re-weld to clear the tires and bar. I would imagine a first timer to take about a day to install this stuff. You'll need a welder for the torque arm. Also you'll want different spring rates with the new set up front and rear. That sucks about the ta cover. They claim it will clear. I have access to a lift and air tools so the job won't be to grueling. Thanks for the tips.

Yeah the panhard bar I did didn't clear by a long shot even with the bearing supports cut flush with the jam nuts. I called them about this and they gave the typical ...Wow we've never seen that before. It all depends, they may have altered their design since the last one I did but you may want a stock cover nearby just in case. Make sure you check under the car in any case to make sure the bar isn't sitting on the T/A cover when the weight is on the wheels

I've got a friend with that setup and his clears the T/A... It might be close but it clears it. You guys must not follow the directions

I just borrowed a friend's MM PHB to check the tailpipe clearance, and while it was close, it clears(1/2"). It also clears my T/A cover.

ya I can't read the directions Like I said it is a difference in MM's bar depending on when it was made or a variation in cars

Ford's production tolerances also play a BIG role in whether or not you will have clearance issues.

No harm done bud, just pulling your leg. The clearance we got on the car is right around 1-2mm so don't feel bad LOL

I have a MM panhard bar on my TBird with a SVO girdle, and it fit fine. The TBird chassis is almost the same as a Mustang, especially in the rear axle area. I had to modify the left gas tank strap hanger for clearance and I'm going to have custom made tailpipes made up as there is just not enough room for any pre bent tail pipes.
