You realize that there are more variables to your top speed than just the tranny right?

yes I understand that rear gers and all, i just want to know if someone around here as hit 200MPH yet. That is one of my goals so I want to know what I need besides the power to get there. ![[patriot]](graemlins/patriot.gif)

with the calculator I've been using looks like a 26" tire with 3.27's and a .69 tanny gear will hit 200mph at only 5,700 rpms. I just want to know how legit that number is ![[Confused]](confused.gif)

With enough power and the right Aerodynamics it can be done. Cars are either top speed limited by drag or by RPM/gear. Online calculators only tell you the RPM/gear limit of a car. After about 120 mph it becomes a drag force vs power issue rather than a weight vs power.
If you want a calculator that takes into account drag force, seach the web for a program called 'cartest' [ December 29, 2003, 02:01 PM: Message edited by: st5150 ]

why set a top speed goal? is this for a race car? when will you ever get up to that speed and where do you plan on testing? just curious.

Probably take a drive down to Arizona or something. Just a goal I have and I love speed. Hitting 200 in my book is the Holy Grail. Just to say I did it and get some video footage would make my life. ![[patriot]](graemlins/patriot.gif)
