ok what exactly is autocross im pretty sure it not too much like motocross, so what is it? And from the sounds of road racing it looks like mods to ditch cops is this a correct assumption?

autocrossing is like course racing, you know, in between cones and shit....from what i know it has nothing to do with "ditching cops" but its really organized and its a major event that people participate in, pretty cool from my point of few, but i still like dragging a lot better...this help?

I refer to autocrossing as "Cone-dodging". These are usually setup in smooth parking lots or some airports, anywhere with a lot of open space. The course is set with cones and you get timed around the course with penalties for hiting a cone.

If you are interested they autocross almost every weekend of the month at the Sacramento Fairgrounds which is the Cal expo center.

yeah, they are called "cone heads" or "parking lot racers" it is really fucking funny to see (people doing burnouts, 180's, crashing into things, lol.)
