Does anyone know a good shop close to hayward that can do a JBA shorty header install on a 2008 4.6? What are the going rates these days for shorty header install?

Talk to AED if you are able to drive North of Sacramento. Skilled labor is not easy to find in your area.

Think about installing headers yourself? Most shops don't have the skilled labor talent to hire anymore. Young people don't want to get into the trades anymore. No money in it.

True I’m just worried about lifting the engine up off the motor mounts. Also don’t even have a jack tall enough to lift the motor when it’s on my quickjacks.

A 1 foot long 4x4 block of wood can get you extra lift on your jack. Did you have a shop install the headers for you? Or did you tackle it your self?

Didn't want to mention them earlier because their craftsmanship has gone down over the years. Next Gen can do the install for you. But you can keep paying shops your hard earned money for the rest of your life. Or learn to do it yourself. No one will care for your ride as much as you. Shops don't take pride in their work anymore. Small shops with older guys like AED take pride. It's how they were raised. The new guys coming up in high cost of living cities just want to make a buck of you. For the labor price a shop will charge, you can buy all the tools you need and do it yourself. When you are done, you will have all the tools and knowledge plus new headers. If you pay a shop, you'll only have new headers at the end.

Any videos online showing S197 header jobs? Do people use engine support bars instead of jacks to lift the engine?

Only video I saw they have the car 6 feet in the air and use an under engine hoist.

Have you tried contacting Next Gen Autosports? They are in Hayward, and specialize in mustangs.

Are the JBA's different than the BBK's? The BBK's don't need a lift. Look into the BBK S197 header installs.

BBK instructions say same.

Jack up the motor until the motor mounts come over the studs on the frame rail, find a solid point on the engine block to jack from and remember to never jack up from the oil pan.

A piece of 4x4 fence post, floor jack, and two 6 ton jack stands should work for you. I wonder if an engine lift bar would also work. You can likely find more install how to videos for the BBK than the JBA headers.
