It was a 302 to 302 swap, nothing crazy.
Having trouble getting the timing right. Im doing tdc by doing the finger over the #1 spark plug hole and feeling for air. Did that, and made sure the pointer on the balancer was at 0 then dropped distributor in and made sure rotor is pointed to #1. Start her up but she doesnt run right and wont stay started unless i stay on the throttle....even then still doesnt sound right running. Thats that part.
Now, i also have yet to adjust the idle, tps, and adjust the fpr.
Do you think the idle / rough running could be related to that, or is it the timing perhaps? Input appreciated.

Also ran codes...got 10-67-11
My nss is not hooked up, hence the 67, as far as i know, that doesnt affect engine performance...?

i guess 10 is a spacer code.
my problem is that I cant bring the motor up to operating temps because it wont stay running unless I stay on the accelerator...im wondering if it has to do with my tps/idle/fpr not adjusted properly?

Does your timing light read zero or ten degrees? It should be 10 for your car.

When i set everything, i make sure the balancer is at TDC or 0, thats where it should be, correct? But again the car will not stay running long enough to check with a timing light.

Turn the distributor until it does run long enough to get a timing light on it.

Yes, what Wilit said, but your car should be at 10 degrees BTDC for the car to run right. That's the factory setting.

+1 Turn it clockwise a little until you feel it idling better. Too low of timing will have it idling low and hanging on for life to stay on.
