Broke my t5, doing a T56 Magnum upgrade.Anyone on here done a T56 Magnum install on their Foxbody Mustang yet? I would like to know if the stock drive shaft has to be shortened. If so how many inches? Thanks...

It has to be shortened. If your going with the T56 get the one with 6th = .5 and not .68 (stock cobra).
Problem is I dont recall how much. I never really found out searching the forums, and responses were fleeting. Best advice drop in the trans with yolks in place and measure.

42.8-43.5". Go with 43", you should be safe.

Oh yeah!!! just purchased a alloy drive shaft for a 03 cobraoff craigslist that measures 43.5 center to center so I think I'm good to go in that dept. Thanks John B . It takes the bigger u joints, I may have to order s bigger yoke flange combo for my 8.8. The T56 I ordered is the close ratio, 1st 2.66; 2nd 1.78; 3rd 1.30; 4th 1.00; 5th 0.80; 6th 0.63 not as tall as .68 The Wider ratio box offers that .5 option I didn't want that super steep first gear though... Yes you'll need the bigger Ford flange for the 2003 Cobra drive shaft. Mark and count the number of turns on your pinion nut before removing it. Install the new flange to the same number of turns. RTV the splines on your new flange when installing.
