Cut a 2 inch piece of it off and drill a hole no more than 3/8" in it. 5/16" is good. You don't want to use a metal restrictor. Metal can erode your core through electrolysis. Replace the foam in the heater core box if it's worn out. You can find then on many newer Fords. Just look for a fixed crimp in a factory heater hose or such when at the junk yard. They are plastic and don’t go bad.
