Anyone ever experienced a heater core failure after 2 weeks from replacement it's a motorcraft heater core

2 weeks? It was installed wrong. Too much force getting the hoses on? Water hoses need WD40 to slide on smoothly. Put a flow restricter in the inlet hose next time. A plastic cylinder with a 3/8" hole in it.

I installed it properly no forcing the hoses I guess just got a bad part I will find out Saturday when I pull it out. We're do they sell flow restrictiers locally I saw them on line?

I had a '95 F150 that I put 3 heater cores in because they kept leaking. I ended up putting in a flow restrictor and it didn't blow another core again.

Go to a hardware store and find a solid plastic rod that fits inside the bigger heater core hose. Cut a 2 inch piece of it off and drill a hole no more than 3/8" in it. 5/16" is good. You don't want to use a metal restrictor. Metal can erode your core through electrolysis. Replace the foam in the heater core box if it's worn out. The foam keeps the heater core from rubbing against the hard plastic box and wearing a hole in the core.

New restrictions are not cheap. You can find then on many newer Fords. Just look for a fixed crimp in a factory heater hose or such when at the junk yard. They are plastic and don’t go bad. My 2002 F150 has one.

Lmr has them for$8 but I didn't have time to wait so I got one at Ford for $23 i didn't think about junk yard tho thanks for the info

I just bought a copper end cap, drilled a hole in it and jammed it in the heater hose. Total cost, 87 cents. [ 2018-02-07, 06:56 PM: Message edited by: wilit ]

A 3/8" hole looks right.
The copper end cap idea is good. I worry about electrolysis between the copper and aluminum. Always use deionized water.
