I am still having troubles with my 65 I-6 200. it has 10,000 on a supposedly quality rebuild. judging my the lifter sounds and the oil gauge things are strange. when I am driving down the road the oil pressure is mostly low, however, when I take my foot off the gas the oil pressure quickly goes way up, to high normal. I find it hard to believe that the engine vacuum is doing this, and I am wondering if the deceleration is moving the oil forward into the front sump and that is having a beneficial effect? there is 4 1/2 quarts of oil in it (I change the oil myself) and it reads normal level on the dip stick. I am thinking about just shoving a little extra oil in it and seeing what happens but I don't know what level will start giving me crank splash problems. I am contemplating just dropping the pan and putting in a new oil pump even though the one in there now is supposed to have been new when the engine was rebuilt. (I THINK I can drop the pan without messing with the suspension.) any ideas out there would be greatly appreciated.
