So my 92 mustang won't do into 2ND 4th or reverse I put it in gear but it just pops out when I hit the gas

It feels like the the gear is not going in all the way like the other

Help please

time for a new tranny or rebuild

Sounds like your shifter might have come loose and the stop is adjusted too far foward

No there is a stop on the front of the shifter, that one stops for all the upward gears on the pattern. Meaning first, third and fifth, then on the bottom there is another stop that is for all the downward gears, second fourth and reverse. When the stops come loose they usually walk the bolt upward making it not engage all the way. Causing a pop out situation in all gears that Ither go upwards or down. It happenes all the time in road race cars from the prolonged vibration.

+1 Had this happen to me (Pro 5.0 shifter). Minor adjustment with the shift stop!
