Does anyone on here have any idea why the chrome intake tube won't fit between the MAF sensor and the throttle body? The one I acquired is too long & won't fit without cutting it down. Do I have the wrong Application for the year? 90 fox... [ 2015-03-03, 04:21 AM: Message edited by: Jeff H ]

Hey Jeff,
If your mustang is a 1990, you shouldn't need the adapter plate for speed density. But i guess it doesn't hurt to see what part number you have and compare it with these:
1557 - which is the fenderwell kit or 1556 - which is basically a ram air system
There's an adapter tube for non-MAF ( speed density ) 5.0 mustangs, but you have a 1990 so it shouldn't be applicable.

Didn't it come with a MAF relocation bracket to move the MAF to the correct position to fit?

Michael , you have a good point there as the kit might be set up for speed density,but I have two different width tubes for either side of the MAF sensor so that would rule out speed density only I think, Another possibility is the explorer upper& lower half I have substituted for the stock intake. could the explorer intake be marginally longer than the stock intake? changing the angle & length of the connecting tube between where the MAF sensor sits and the throttle body? I would try to put the stock upper half & the explorer upper half side by side to do a comparison but I pitched the stock intake... thanks in advance

Hey Jeff,
To my knowledge, the Explorer intake and the Cobra intake have the same dimensions. Unsure about the difference between stock, the explorer and the cobra intake but i've never had a problem with any air intake mating to any of them.
I would definitely do a recap of everything that came with your air intake. I believe I have one in stock, i'll open the box and give you a list of parts as a check list to make sure you have everything.

You have to unbolt the MAF from its factory location. once its coupled with the tubing it will be fine. Just remove the clip that holds the MAF harness to the fender and you should have enough slack

Yeah I trial fitted everything together today and came to the conclusion,unbolt everything factory and it worked! thanks for the input guys!
