Hey CA fords, I have an elec fan from a lincoln, a summit racing thermostat in the thermo housing, a switch from the solenoid/battery, all connected to a 30 or 40a relay.

2nd random time now, the fan won't turn off, even when I disconnect from the thermostat. Is my switch failed?

Sounds like the relay contacts welded together.

Thanks that makes sense seeing that the wires to the controller are very hot right now. Starting to deteriorate.

Wonder which came first? I must have something wired wrong. Never had this issue before, could the fan draw too much for the wiring?

Sounds like with a dual speed fan, the recommendation is to run 2 40amp relays (one for each speed) and then to a 75amp off the battery.
Like this:

Dang that's much more work and parts than I planned.

Go one ebay. It's a Tyco 75amp relay.
