If you want to pass smog legally, you will need to get your car BAR'd for the swap.

I have a 2004 Stang, and the cobra motor came out of a 03-04 cobra.

So it came out a o4 cobra if anyone asks.as long as everything is there for the emissions an you did the swap right it will pass smog inspection with no problems an no need to get it bar'ed from the referee. 2004 mustang was available with a 4v supercharged engine.

A simple note I just learned this past weekend when I got my 2002 truck smogged. If you are missing the engine certification/calibration label, it will default to Federal Smog requirements (including cat requirements). I don't know if they check the engine type against the VIN.

I did not have to BAR ref or do anything special for my 4v swapped `97 gt (used a 93 long block with 97 intake/emission controls).
Passed clean as a whistle every time at a gold shield station every 2 years while I owned it (8 years).
Most of the time the tech's couldn't tell it any different from being stock, as I had the underhood factory perfect with the factory air box.

I agree with him ^^ I've also smogged my GT with a 4v running 2v pcm. Most techs won't notice it as long as it looks stock. I'd suggest you make sure your monitors are turned on and set/complete before you take it in though
