Car is a 2001 Bullitt. A lot of black smoke comes out of the tailpipe and runs like it's only on 4 cylinders. Plugs have black carbon build up and I'm not getting any codes. Anyone have ideas? Oh and it has orangey colored injectors if that matters.
Injectors are Python brand. I've also been reading that these injectors take a shit real quick. [ 2014-06-25, 11:42 PM: Message edited by: Wht86drop ]

get a fuel pressure gauge on there, see if it holds pressure when you prime the system, if it drops then you might have an injector staying open. sure its not oil?

Ill go buy a gauge and check. Do you think if some injectors are bad, it would cause it to run like that? When I start it, it idles rough at 500-600 and then shuts off when I gets load. When I hit the gas I get hardly any throttle response. And as for the oil I dont see where it would be coming from besides the piston rings but the car only has 85k.

I was only able to check 5 plugs but two were very slightly wet with fuel and black and the rest were dry and black. Cylinder 1 2 and 5 were the dry ones and cylinder 6 and 7 were a little wet

Sounds like she's running WAY TOO RICH. But that's better than way too lean.
Check your ignition system. Sounds like your not getting spark.
A bad injector wouldn't cause the car to dump that much fuel, not to mention in multiple cylinders at once.

I got the car in pieces. It used to be a members car. He took the motor out of his brothers car and gave me that one. Everything is original except the longblock. Motor is from a 03 gt but all the Bullitt stuff is there. I'll swap injectors to ford 24s and see what happens. Should I have issues with that?
Motor has 80k miles too [ 2014-06-26, 03:13 PM: Message edited by: Wht86drop ]

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to have 19# injectors. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

I think you are right but I was doing a little bit of reading and some people claim that ford changed injector size on 02^ to 21#? Is that true? I think I'll just slap on some 24s and go from there. I looked at the maf and it is for sure stock. With that said, stock maf+ 30# injectors=? Running too rich?
One thing I did leave out was that watery liquid comes out of the exhaust. I can't tell if it's gas or not though because the garage gets clouded with black smoke and my smell senses go away lol [ 2014-06-29, 03:43 PM: Message edited by: Wht86drop ]

dont waste your time putting in 24lb injectors. Sounds like the car is stock, just put in whatever came stock for that year motor.
If you put in the 24s its going to do the same thing.

Injectors need to match maf. Period.
Otherwise your just going to dump fuel. If your car is blowing black smoke at idle, your running wwwwAaaaayyyyyy too rich.
