Before I tell you guys my problem let me give you a quick run down on the car. It's a 65 mustang, 289 shortblock, 302 heads, edelbrock performer 289 intake, and a holler carb. The rest is stock. So the car has been sitting for 10 years and I recently got it running normal till two days ago when it started dying on me. Since then I have replaced the distributor, plugs wires and points system. It has fresh gas, a new fuel pump and water pump. Fuel pressure is spot on at about 7psi. The car currently runs like shit and I'm freaking lost because everything I checked so far is A-Ok. I'm starting to thing the carb took a shit but I don't know. When I start the car it idles but kinda rough and when I rev it, it starts backfiring through the carb and sometimes through the exhaust. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks CaFurds

Nope I Tripple checked that. Im leaning towards the carb now because it just keeps getting worse and worse. The thing only stays running for about 3-5 revolutions and shuts off. Also sounds like it's choking like it's gasping for air or something

Ten years sitting, gaskets on carb dried out...plus if you didn't clean bowls you more than likely have something stuck in the carb. Try starting car. Turn off, and quickly Look down inside carb....engine off..... What your looking for is gas dribbling down .
Also check all hoses for vacuum leaks and carb base gaskets, intake gaskets

Points are good. Since the car has been sitting for more than 10 years I'm pretty sure it's that now. There's no vacuum leaks or anything of that sort so the last thing is to rebuild the carb or replace it with a new unit. I'll also look into the Petronix system too. Thanks guys I was just a little confused since the car kept getting worse and worse with every start attempt
