I have a 302 longblock from O'reilly's. I wanted to put some AFR 165 cylinder heads on and i believe that with the 58cc heads the CR would be 10:1. Will this work with 91 octane? theyre aluminum haeds too

depends on what pistons are in it..but 10.1 is fine on 91

Comp Cams recommended part # 35-424-8. If I got the cam with the heads would I be good?

OK it is a mild cam to an extent but not for 302 inches. It is cut on 110 but has some good duration . Throw of the dice but i think if you go easy on total timing you should be ok. But my gut feeling is it is a border line cam for that much compression with 91 R+M. I would go for it. Good luck on your build!! That should work good with a stick and at least 3.7 in the tail. That is a different thing completely. As a solid cam has what we call clearance ramps compared to a hydraulic cam that does not!!!

If you fill out one of info sheets on the FTI link I posted and let Ed know your needs he will spec a cam to fit. It will clear your pistons and run on pump gas. He will help you get more out of your car than an off the shelf cam that could have clearance issues.
