I replaced the gauge (had previously replaced sender, that wasn't the issue) and the dash panel voltage regulator. now not only is the gas gauge totally dead (before it worked, just continuity was poor) but the temp gauge is dead, and it was fine before. The only thing I can guess is a power problem. I am guessing I should just start at the fuse block and start working forward, but I was wondering if anybody out there had a likely spot to check before I go poking around. Install it between ground and theTemp lead going to the sender. Key the car and see if it blinks. If it does the CVR is ok. But because all the gauges are out the CVR is not working. It needs battery and ground and then it pulses the 5 volts needed to power the gauges. So check the printed gircuit on the gauge cluster for ground and battery feed to the CVR. I am guessing the ground is OK because the instrument panel lights are working OK. I can't find the location of the ground on the wiring diagram, but it must be there somewhere.
