So my buddy has 89 gt mustang that he just purchase of cragslist got a good deal is has some issues but one that I was scratching my head on was there is a coolant leak in the back of the motor by the pcv valve I thoght it was the heater core hoses that were leaking since Ther were bypass so change that hose and still leaking it's like every time you rev it up is sprays coolant out in that area but when it's idle vary little to no leak at all... could it be the lower intake gaskets?? Open to all suggestions thanks cafords 1989 gt with 5.0 all stock no mods

A few thoughts where it could leak....
- There's a coolant line that runs along top of the intake manifold for the heater. (passenger side) - Lower intake gaskets - coolant line running to throttle body from intake manifold (rear passenger side)
that's all I can think of where coolant is flowing back there. [ 2013-10-10, 09:45 AM: Message edited by: Marks93 ]

check the coolant hose that goes from the water pump to the heater tube. ive found a hairline crack on that hose near the fastener (which was cutting into it) and you cant see it unless you bend the hose. and it sprayed straight towards the firewall over near my egr valve area...

Pressure test the system that will nail it down. There is several places it can leak back there. In absence of a tester clean the area well and rev the engine to pinpoint the leak. You said it leaks under RPM so that should be easy to find. The EGR cooler can leak if the adapter get porous. The actual EGR valve does not have coolant running through it. Good luck
Note the hard line back to the heater core can rot out and leak. Clean it up and i am sure you will find it. Also the lower back portion of the manifold can corrode and leak coolant. This is common [ 2013-10-13, 04:26 PM: Message edited by: Tom Renzo ]

Check lower intake gaskets in the back. get a mirror and a flashlight to pinpoint leak.
